That pay gap is 7%.<br /><br />And it spreads as you get older. At my level in engineering?<br /><br />It's 13%. That, by the way, is approximately $17,000 a year. That's real money.<br /><br />The pay gap exists with women engineers only TWO YEARS out of undergrad, with NO husband and NO children. It may only be 3% at that point, but it grows and grows.<br /><br />If I hear someone argue that women "don't negotiate" one more time I'll scream! Women are very often penalized for negotiating. Seen as "aggressive" or "bitchy" or "not a team player". Boy do I have stories of men "negotiating" and getting promoted, and women getting "let go" for doing the same.
