A couple of ...Good comments, thanks to both of you! A couple of thoughts:

Mary: nothing has to be zero-sum. It's just that readers of YMOYL will make the choices that are in alignment with their goals. So if earning extra investment income is your goal you will defer a renovation or home expansion project. If a home expansion project is in alignment with your values, then you'll apply the money towards that. As you read the book, and especially as you go over chapters 2, 3, 4, you'll see what I mean.

PS: No pressure, but let me say once more that you are one of the bloggers out there who could add some good value by discussing this book with your readers.

Ryn: In many ways you have what many people would consider a high-class problem: you have savings sitting around that you're not sure what to do with! I'm looking forward to the discussion in Chapter 9 too.

Thanks as always for the thoughts and input.

DKDanielhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02388302796031288076noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37886248.post-66607757565250819162012-07-08T09:47:00.164-07:002012-07-08T09:47:00.164-07:00"Vague saver" - that's me exactly. E..."Vague saver" - that's me exactly. Every month the paycheck hits my checking account, every month I pay my bills, and every month I look at the rest of the money and wonder what I'm supposed to do with it. I'm looking forward to the discussion of chapter 9.Rynnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37886248.post-43955757561729113512012-07-08T08:32:28.088-07:002012-07-08T08:32:28.088-07:00OK, thanks to these posts I finally went ahead and...OK, thanks to these posts I finally went ahead and bought this book. Twice, actually. Once in paperback and once on CD so John could listen in the car on the way to and from work.

The concept of the crossover point = awesome. Wow. Downside, of course, is the need to see savings as a long-term investment not something to spend in a year or 5. (Blah. There goes my dining room expansion dream. And John's new-ish car.) But eventually having passive income? Wow. Looking forward to seeing how we do at this. And we already have a wall chart to track our progress.Owlhavenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08914960326214046859noreply@blogger.com
