The British started using this amazing new technology called RADAR to detect and shoot down incoming air raids, especially at night. In order to keep the Nazis from finding out about it, the British started propaganda saying that carrots were what was allowing them to see the enemy planes.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37886248.post-36929615967553522432010-04-12T17:36:25.588-07:002010-04-12T17:36:25.588-07:00Thanks for spreading the message of proper nutriti...Thanks for spreading the message of proper nutrition to promote eye health!

Believe it or not, eating carrots for the eyes is becoming controversial. Some research suggests that beta-carotene (found in carrots) competes with lutein & zeaxanthin, which are more critical for eye health in a Western diet. More research is being done, so we'll have to "keep an eye out" find out the final word on that.Cheftometristhttp://www.morethancarrots.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37886248.post-85614763450524565752010-04-05T13:17:43.637-07:002010-04-05T13:17:43.637-07:00Amy and Ingrid, thanks for the feedback and I'...Amy and Ingrid, thanks for the feedback and I'm glad you got value out of this post. Good p...Hi Kristen and thank you for your comment! Good point on the optimal ratio of omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acids in your diet.

From the University of Maryland Medical Center website:

"A healthy diet should consist of roughly 2 - 4 times more omega-6 fatty acids than omega-3 fatty acids. The typical American diet tends to contain 14 - 25 times more omega-6 fatty acids than omega-3 fatty acids, and many researchers believe this imbalance is a significant factor in the rising rate of inflammatory disorders in the United States."

Thanks for reading!

DKDanielhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02388302796031288076noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37886248.post-56563622259422802042008-04-06T01:46:00.000-07:002008-04-06T01:46:00.000-07:00Hemp foods (seeds, oil, protein powder) are EXCELL...Hemp foods (seeds, oil, protein powder) are EXCELLENT sources of omegas.
