Hi Daniel,
I'm back to add more info wrt Charmian's post. Paul Sawtell, the man Charmian and I both interviewed made comments on our blogs recommending the Paul Rubin book "Why your planet is going to get a whole lot smaller" (hope I got the title correct). Anyhow, I've just heard Rubin on CBC radio and he was fascinating on the subject of food and food prices.
He was on CBC radio one’s program THE HOUSE which is available online for those interested in hearing him speak.
Even more interesting, is that the next few weeks that program is going to follow up on some of his hypotheses about globalization and explore them from other sides
