I loved that Bitch PhD article Dan, and I'm glad you did too.

I also loved that article from A Life of Spice. For so long, I was blogging with the idea that I had to cook something complex to be blogworthy. That was a lot of pressure every night and it's one of the reasons I had to really reevaluate what the heck I was doing. I have simplified my cooking by leaps and bounds over the last year and I admit I am twice as happy with it as I once was. Hoo-ray for flavorful yet uncomplicated cooking.

And Joanne's eggplant and tofu recipe? Mmmmm. Great motivation to make those things at home. Because my vegetarian kick? That's what I've been craving. Tofu, which I mentioned, but also eggplant. I need to do a dish like this, maybe a bit more Thai-influenced, as I ordered it from a local place last week.

Thanks for the feedback Melissa, as always. Funny, I never really had an issue with grappling with blogging about styled or complex food, mainly because the entire purpose of this blog is CASUAL recipes that are laughably easy and cheap.

But yes, many food bloggers struggle with this.

I guess what's important to me is that people share what they are doing and also try to learn. At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter how sophisticated the recipes are, how good or bad the posts turn out, or how good or bad the photos are. Nor does it really matter how many readers or comments one gets.

But it sure can be hard to be dispassionate about one's own blog in this way.
