Daniel, I've been a CK reader for a long time and like the blog a lot. However, I'm appalled to see you post a link to a blog based on pickup artist strategies (Married Man Sex Life). PUA culture (and this article in particular) is misogynistic and just plain wrong about how relationships work.
I hope that this goes without saying, but in case it doesn't, here goes: the assumption that women never want sex and will only "trade" it for things like money and housework is BS. Women are human beings and we like and want what human beings like and want. That includes sex, because it's awesome and it feels good -- no other reason necessary.
I also strongly disagree with the article's premise. Talking about relationship problems is not "near useless," it is vital. What is useless (and also fatal for long-term relationships) is acting out passive-aggressive Game Theory strategies on a person you supposedly love.
The article made my head explode, too, but not in a good way. I hope you reconsider before promoting sexist stereotypes like this in the future.
Heather, thanks for your comment, and I'm happy to hear that you disagree, and even happier that you took the time to articulate why.
Please don't misunderstand me: I'm not saying I agree with the post or its premise. In fact, as a long term reader, you know that I make a point of sharing links that I don't agree with from time to time. (Why do you think my mind exploded too?)
What I've found is that an occasional post like this helps foster discussion among readers, and it drives well-written and well-reasoned comments such as yours. I don't want to put my readers in a bubble where we all agree with each other all the time.
Keep the well-written and well-argued comments coming.
DK
Thanks for the link love! Much appreciated.
Hope no permanent damage was caused by your brain explosion! :-)
