As much as I want it to be true, chocolate does not improve cognitive function. An excellent example of the "ecological fallacy." (EpiAnalysis)

Break out your critical thinking skills for this post, but also read it for more reasons to ditch overpriced cereal. (RealDose Nutrition, via La Vie au Zoo)

Off-Topic Links:
Unsolicited book recommendation of the week: Learned Optimism by Martin Seligman. I spent the past week reading and taking careful notes from Seligman's well-known and well-regarded book, and I can't recommend it highly enough. It's about learning to change your internal "explanatory style" when thinking about setbacks in life. An excellent and extremely practical book.

I have no ambitions to win a Nobel (nor do I have any of the qualifications) so it's a good thing I wasn't counting on my chocolate consumption for THAT.

also: on the breakfast cereal post ... sadly hilarious, or hilariously sad, how many commenters failed to grasp the difference between extruded processed cereal and true whole grains.

It was fairly clearly stated, but maybe my reading comprehension is higher above average than I thought.

I'm starting to recalibrate my aspirations for a Nobel prize too. But heaven knows I've eaten enough dark chocolate to qualify. :)

I just realized I also forgot to put in the "open a new window" links this week. I'll get it right for next Friday. Old habits die hard.
