Great links today. I will have to try that chicken vindaloo. I like simple foods.

The deleting Facebook one was interesting. I get the Everett Bogue email, and I've been feeling like he's going off the deep end with the Cyborg and twitter crap. He's kind of the opposite - deleting FB because it's all about twitter to connect.

I personally would rather connect face to face. But when I can't, which is the case for my family in the East, my friends scattered all over the globe, FB is perfect. And while some people "meet up" with twitter or texting, many of my friends just send me a FB message to say "wanna come over for dinner?"

Mmm lentils and beans.

That video on grocery shopping. Good video, two side notes: 1) I snorted at the shopper's name. Crystal Ball. *Snort* 2) She mentioned the whole shopping low thing - I thought of you at the store today Dan, as I made my weekly run to the "chain place" for items like rice and tomato paste and beans and such. I almost grabbed the $1.79 pintos, but thought, wait, what am I paying for here, the name? Got a can for $1.00 instead. Same with the tomato paste. Saved $0.40 by buying the store brand. And, I kid you not, the thought "what would Dan buy in this situation?" actually crossed my mind. AHAHAHAH!

Anyway!

Good links, as always. And, um, you know I kind of "got" that Facebook post. Though I hope when I post about it on my other blog, I won't seem so grating about it. But in my case, I lost dead weight, I didn't delete... I will never delete. Or let's just say it is highly, HIGHLY unlikely.

Marcia: Yep, you can *always* count on Jules for reliably good and really easy recipes.

And (both Marcia and Melissa) I have mixed feelings about Facebook. I use it to stay in touch with friends and family all over the world too--and it's the primary way I keep in touch with friends in Chile. But in some ways it's not real. And man, it can be a huge timesuck if you're not disciplined about how you use it. I can see why some people would reject it and invest that time in exclusively face-to-face relationships.

Lindsey, you are welcome! You had some good practical ideas in that post.

Melissa: LOL! I guess I've gotta start selling "WWDD" bracelets huh? :) But yes, when it comes to pure commodity products like tomato paste or beans, there is just no point to paying more for the branded product. Heck, sometime the generic products is markedly better. Nothing wrong with free money.
