You are so right about snotty comments. I basically quit reading Simple Dollar because the comment cloud was so unproductive. As opposed to Get Rich Slowly, where typically the comments add a lot of value.

@ chacha1: I agree. I've enjoyed TSD a lot more since I started using Google reader instead of visiting the site proper. The comments on there can often ruin the mood, unlike here.

Interesting post about farm subsidies and the cost of food. More than anything, I think it shows how you can selectively display data that will prove your point, no matter what point you're trying to make. It makes me wonder how careful the author had to be in his own selection of data? The inconvenient truth of data and statistics... or maybe I'm too skeptical.

Agreed on The Simple Dollar. Hopefully I've succeeded in scaring away most of the whiners and snotty commenters here. Definitely I'm extremely happy with the level of discussion at CK, and a large part of the thanks goes to both of you.

Thank you SO MUCH for including the chicken tarragon etc. dish. We loved it so much, I'm making it again this week, this time with enough for leftovers for lunches.

Also the 5 things... love love.

The ethical meat post on CHG reminded me of when my lines were drawn, and where, regarding various meats. And I'll tell ya, all ethics aside, it comes down to taste. Random grocery store meat tastes *gross* after you've paid for the good stuff. Beef, in particular.

And I really needed to read that someday speech post. I've been giving that a lot of thought lately, about my own dreams. Need some action now.
